The assembled brethren heard the excellent demonstration of the Fellow Craft proficiency examination by Brother James Edward Kinnear under the direction of Brother Jon May.

Following Brother James' examination.  The officers conferred the Entered Apprentice Degree on Christopher Todd Walton.  It was good that other Entered Apprentices from Pentalpha Lodge and Masons from other Lodges who are friends of Brother Chris attended the Communication.

The brethren then discussed plans for the May 5 Masonic Open House, activities that are being held in conjunction with the celebration of the 225th anniversary of the Grand Lodge of Maryland, and activities within Masonic Lodge in Montgomery County, such as the Strawberry Festival that will be held at the Silver Spring Lodge on May 12.

Following a tasty dinner provided by the ladies of Pentalpha Eastern Star Chapter #38, the Lodge opened in the First degree at 7:30 pm and proceeded to affirm the petition for reinstatement of Brother Rafik Bazikian.  Brother Rafik has moved to the Eastern Shore, where he plans to become active in a Lodge near his home.

The officers then conferred the Entered Apprentice Degree on new Brothers Skip Richard, Eddie Cobian, and Albert Hance.  We are proud to have these three fine men in our Fraternity.

With the addition of a new conference table and comfortable chairs, the Lodge library is now ready for use for meetings and study.  It is hoped that the Brethren make use of the library to access the many volumes of Masonic literature that have accumulated through donations by many brethren and their families through the 118 year history of Pentalpha Lodge.  Many thanks to Brother John Austin for spearheading this project.
